For grown-ups: exam format, sources & how to practise

These are original practice questions for Class 3, age 8, aligned to SOF’s published 2026–27 Science and General Knowledge syllabuses. SOF now calls its Science Olympiad ISO; older papers use NSO. This is an independent practice resource, not an official SOF paper or a prediction of exam questions.

All mocks: 35 questions · 60 minutes · 40 marks
ExamOne-mark questionsTwo-mark questions
Science Level 15 reasoning + 25 science5 Achievers
Science Level 230 science5 Achievers
General Knowledge20 awareness + 5 current affairs + 5 life skills5 Achievers

Science Level 1 mocks contain 21 Class 3 questions and 14 Class 2 foundation questions, implementing SOF’s 60% / 40% rule. Achievers and Science Level 2 use Class 3 content. The split between reasoning and science within the 40% foundation share is our practice design; SOF does not prescribe that detail. Class 2 and Class 3 topics overlap, so the labels describe the intended learning level.

Start with one short practice mission, read the explanations together, then visit the retry lab. Try a full mock when Viaan feels comfortable with the format. Earned stars show two consecutive unaided correct answers to an individual question; they measure practice progress, not guaranteed exam readiness. Mocks award zero for wrong or unanswered questions.

Current affairs: 2025–26 events · checked 25 September 2026. The pack covers selected completed events in space, sport, environment and culture. It does not cover every news event or future developments in 2026–27. Read recent age-appropriate news together and recheck the official syllabus before the school’s exam date.

The supplied 2016–20 Class 2 papers informed the level of foundation practice and visual reasoning. The older attachment named “Class 3, Level 2” actually contains Class 4 papers internally, so it was used only to understand question styles. No publisher questions, page images or answer keys are reproduced here. NCERT’s Our Wondrous World 2026–27 reprint provides additional Class 3 curriculum context; SOF’s syllabus determines the Olympiad coverage.

All questions have explanations. “Topic guide” links identify the curriculum reference; they are not claims that SOF supplied or checked our answers. Current-affairs explanations link to the relevant primary source.
